Fatal hit-and-run driver turns herself in

ANDERSON, Ind. (Oct. 1, 2014)– A hit-and-run driver came forward Wednesday night and admitted she hit a woman with her car and took off.

Investigators say Keri Lynn Winningham, 26, of Chesterfield, was walking north along the east side of Scatterfield Rd. just south of Hillcrest Dr. around 11:15 p.m. Saturday when she was struck by a 2006 Hyundai driven by Christian Garrison, 26, of Anderson.

Winningham died in the accident. The coroner said the cause of death was massive trauma.

Detectives told FOX59 “It was possible” another vehicle initially hit Winningham, pushing her into the roadway.

On Wednesday, it was confirmed that another car did hit Winningham and left the scene. Ava Conley turned herself in to police. She is charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

Other charges against Conley are pending. She is being held in the Madison Co. jail.

Winningham’s funeral is being planned for Friday.
