Lockdown lifted after ricin scare at Indianapolis veterans’ hospital

Indianapolis VA hospital: “Our staff, our team is veteran-focused”

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Oct. 3, 2014)– The emergency room at the Roudebush VA Medical Center was locked down Friday night after a ricin scare.

Just before 10 p.m., a man entered the emergency room at Roudebush to seek medical treatment. At some point, the man mentioned that he had ricin on him.

The hospital took immediate action and placed the emergency room in lockdown.

The substance was tested and was found to not be ricin. The emergency room has now reopened.
