Take the smoke alarm pledge as ‘Fire Prevention Week’ focuses on alarm safety

INDIANAPOLIS, In.  (September 5th, 2014) -- Working smoke alarms save lives.  That's the theme for this year's "Fire Prevention Week".  (October 5-11th)

The Indiana State Fire Marshal and other state officials will visit students at the "Blue and Gold Academy" on Monday to kick off the initiative.

The Decatur Township Fire Department will also have fire apparatus on hand to show students how they save lives.

Firefighters are also urging families to talk to their kids about fire safety and and an escape plan should their home catch fire.
