INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (October 28, 2014) – A man was stabbed in the chest on the city’s near east side Tuesday morning.

Police were called to the 3600 block of East New York Street around 2:15 a.m.

According to officers, a man knocked on the door of a home in this area. When the homeowner answered, the man said he’d been stabbed in the chest and he asked for help.

Medics were called to the scene, and they transported the man to Eskenazi Hospital.

He is in stable condition.

At this time, police aren’t sure what led up to the stabbing and where it originally occurred.
