FISHERS, Ind. (Nov. 11, 2014) — A homeowner scared off a would-be burglar in Fishers late Monday in what was the second attempted break-in of the day.

Fishers police said the latest incident happened on Stillwater Court in the Windemere subdivision, where the homeowner confronted the perpetrator after he had entered an open garage.

The would-be burglar ran to a newer model, gray hatchback car and drove off, police said.  A search was unsuccessful.

Earlier in the day, Fishers police said a man tried to kick in a residential door at the Watermark Apartments near 116th Street and Cumberland.  A woman’s scream scared off the suspect, who also was not caught.

In addition to a rash of attempted break-ins, Fishers has had two homicides in 2014 after being without a single homicide case in 20 years.

Many residents are now considering establishing neighborhood crime watch groups where they do not already exist.
