INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Nov. 14, 2014)-- The hashtag #DoGoodFriday took off around an unofficial kindness movement Friday on social media after a group of strangers organized to help those in need in Indianapolis.

"We are doing it because we wanted to. And, also, we are helping the people we always walk past downtown," explained Billy McAllister, #DoGoodFriday organizer.

The idea is  similar to a flash mob. People father together to do something at a specific time, but a community mob isn't about a performance or attention. It's about helping those in need.

"It is amazing. It touches on my heart to provide a meal to someone that otherwise may not be able to eat tonight. I think it would be awesome if everyone got together and think about what they can do with the time that they have to try to make life better for someone else and make a difference and do good for someone else," said Danielle Neveles, #DoGoodFriday organizer.

Neveles and her friend Billy McAllister came up with the idea for #DoGoodFriday three weeks ago.

Catering Pro Indy, Nameless Caters, and Jimmy Johns all donated more than 100 meals for the #DoGoodFriday group.

HandleBar Indy donated services to help the group get around downtown and find those in need, like Ricky, who is homeless.

"It is very helpful. I didn't have nothing to eat. It shows  respect and shows somebody cares," said Ricky.

Organizers want to have more #DoGoodFriday events in Indianapolis.
