Large North Vernon fire intentionally set, fire department says

NORTH VERNON (Nov. 26, 2014) – A large fire in Jennings County was intentionally set.

The North Vernon Fire Department confirmed the news with FOX59.

The Nov. 21 fire in downtown North Vernon destroyed Hatton’s Carpet Store and damaged several historic buildings.

Crews from multiple departments were called to battle the fire, which investigators said had multiple points of origin.

The same building caught fire earlier this month.

The fire department said the investigation is ongoing.
