Man found lying in roadway after north side crash

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Nov. 30, 2014) — A man was found lying in the street after a car crash on the north side early Sunday morning.

The man, who had been in a Dodge pickup truck, collided with a car at the intersection of 40th and Meridian streets, just before 3:30 a.m.

The intersection has flashing yellow lights for Meridian St. traffic and flashing red lights for 40th St. traffic. The driver of the truck was on 40th Street, entering the intersection, when he collided with the Hyundai.

When police arrived, the driver of the truck was lying in the roadway. They believe he was able to get out of the vehicle on his own and then collapsed. He was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital awake and breathing. The driver of the car was not injured.

Police are investigating the crash, but they do not believe either driver was impaired.
