Four people displaced after near north side apartment fire

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (December 23, 2014) – Four people are displaced this morning after an apartment fire on the city’s near north side.

IFD was called to the 3300 block of North Meridian Street around 1:05 a.m., and black smoke was showing upon arrival.

Crews found the smoke to be coming from the third floor, and they evacuated all residents in the building.

The fire was under control by 1:30 a.m.

No one was injured, but four people were displaced.

An investigation revealed that there were no working smoke detectors in the building.

The damage is estimated at $150,000.
