INDIANAPOLIS (Dec. 23, 2014) – A suspicious package prompted a call to the bomb squad and the closure of an east side intersection for about two hours Tuesday morning.

The closure affected 21st Street at Richardt Avenue.  Traffic was backing up on northbound I-465 as well.

Dispatchers said a passerby saw a white backpack with a “humming noise” coming from it.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer Christopher Wilburn told FOX59 News that the bag ended up not containing explosives.  It turns out somebody dumped a bag of at least 10 security devices that emitted sounds after apparently being stolen off some high-end clothing, he said.

IMPD had set up a perimeter while the bomb squad was on the scene.
