MIDLOTHIAN, Va. (Dec. 23, 2014) — A Virginia family won the USA TODAY Christmas light competition.

As the winner, the Bottoms family from Midlothian, Va.,  will receive the $5,000 grand prize, reports WTVR.

Hunter Bottoms said he and his father Buck started the tradition of decorating their home for the holidays in 1995. The display features more than 178,000 lights, 34 inflatables, 42 blow molds, 50 strobe lights, three snow machines and a fog machine.

“The thing I love most is getting to spend more time with family, we start in September every year to get all 170,000 lights up by Thanksgiving, so we all get to spend a lot of time together which is really nice!” Bottoms told WTVR earlier this month.
