IPL asks for rate hike; customers would see $8 monthly increase in 2015
INDIANAPOLIS (Dec. 29, 2014) – Indianapolis residents could see an increase in their electric bills next year.
On Monday, Indianapolis Power & Light requested a rate increase with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC). If approved, new rates would go into effect near the end of 2015.
IPL said the average residential customer would see an increase of about $8 per month if the IURC approves the change. The utility said the increase would “cover the escalation in costs of providing reliable electricity, including operation, maintenance and general business expenses.”
