SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Jan. 8, 2015) – A federal complaint implicates six people in a large cocaine ring discovered in December.
The investigation resulted in the seizure of a cardboard box containing 45 pounds (20 kilos) of cocaine. The vehicle was a rental car returned to the Sacramento International Airport, reports KTXL.
Rental records show a Washington woman made the 1,000-mile trip from her home to southern California and back several times.
A surveillance team followed the woman, leading them to five other suspects. Agents found more than 130 pounds of cocaine in two bags involved in an exchange. Two of the suspects said they didn’t know what was in the bags and that they were holding them for friends.
All six suspects have pleaded not guilty in the case.
