Man answers the door and is fatally shot

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Jan. 11, 2015) — A man was killed early Sunday morning on the near north side when he answered his door, according to IMPD. The shooting was earlier reported to have been a drive-by.

Police say just before 2:30 a.m., someone knocked on the door of a home in the 3500 block of N. Illinois Street. When the man answered the door, he was shot multiple times.

The man was rushed to Eskenazi where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives identified the man as 63-year-old Henry Nunn of Indianapolis. The man’s wife was home at the time of the shooting but was not hurt.

Police do not believe this was a random act of violence, and they have not release any suspect information at this time.
