Boy, 4, injured after 40-foot fall from second floor of Castleton store

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Jan. 19, 2015)– A boy was seriously injured after a second-story fall at a store in Castleton.

Crews were dispatched Monday just before 5 p.m. to the Burlington Coat Factory Store located in the 5000 block of East 82nd Street at Castleton Crossing on a report of an injured child.

Witnesses told firefighters and medics that a 4-year-old boy had fallen approximately 40 feet from the second floor to the first floor over the escalator railing.

The child was transported to Riley Hospital and is listed in serious condition. It is unclear how or why the child fell.
