INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (January 30, 2015) – A chase that started in Hamilton County ended with a crash on Indy’s north side early Friday morning. It all started around 1:30 a.m. when Carmel police tried to make a routine traffic stop at 116th and Pennsylvania.

The pickup truck did not stop and it continued down College Ave until it crashed into a Chevy HHR at Guilford Ave and E 49th St in Broad Ripple – that’s a distance of almost nine miles. Police say that they didn’t reach any high speeds during the pursuit.

The female driver in the Chevy HHR was slightly injured in the crash, and she was transported to a local hospital. The female’s male passenger was uninjured.

Both male subjects fled on foot from pickup truck. The driver of the truck was caught a short time later not too far from the crash scene, but the passenger is still at large.

Police say the suspects may be involved in a theft from a Meijer store in Carmel earlier.
