SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (Feb. 3, 2015) – Groundhogs can get a little testy, a Wisconsin mayor found out the hard way.
Mayor Jonathan Freund was consulting Jimmy the groundhog for his annual weather prognostication Monday when Jimmy decided to strike back.
The groundhog took a bite of Freund’s ear, forcing the mayor to flinch as a handler pulled Jimmy away, reports the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Jimmy’s take on winter? He’s calling for an early spring, unlike his Pennsylvania counterpart, Punxsutawney Phil, who forecasts six more weeks of winter.
