WAYNE COUNTY (Feb. 5, 2015) – A woman spent six hours trapped in her car after the vehicle ran off a Wayne County road.

Around 5:10 a.m. Thursday, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a car was inverted on Wernle Road east of Niewoehner Road. Officers said the car went off the road and ended up going 10-15 feet down a ditch.

The driver, Amanda Cooper of Richmond, said the accident happened around 11 p.m. Wednesday. A utility worker investigating the report of a broken pole saw the vehicle and called 911.

Cooper was taken to Reid Hospital and then transferred to Miami Valley Hospital due to her exposure to the cold.

The accident remains under investigation.
