MUNCIE, Ind. (Feb. 11, 2015)— A former employee of a Muncie pain doctor under fire for dangerous prescribing practices is now facing similar charges.

Susan Adam Hayes, who worked as a nurse practitioner at Dr. William Hedrick’s clinic, faces three counts of reckless prescribing.

Hedrick’s clinic was raided by Drug Enforcement Administration agents last fall. Court documents link the pain clinic to several drug overdose deaths, and in some cases, Hayes was reported to be the last person to sign the prescriptions.

The state has identified eight former patients of Hedrick’s who have died of overdoses.  Court documents released last month by the Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office link 10 deaths to Hedrick’s clinic.  The doctor is also under investigation for fraud, forgery and violating his probation.

Hayes was arrested Wednesday morning in her Delaware County home.
