HAMILTON COUNTY (Feb. 11, 2015) – Police requested perimeter lockdowns for several Hamilton County schools due to an online threat. Those lockdowns were lifted Wednesday afternoon.

Promise Road Elementary, 14975 Promise Rd., Noblesville, said all external doors at the school were locked because of the threat. School officials described the move as a precautionary safety measure and said there was “no information to indicate any active danger” at the school. No one was allowed inside the building until police completed their investigation, the school said.

The communications director for Noblesville Schools said the person responsible for the threat has been located and the lockdown order lifted.

Here’s the alert sent to parents earlier Wednesday:

We wanted to inform you that Promise Road Elementary has locked down all external doors due to a police investigation of an online threat. We have no information to indicate any active danger at this time–the lockdown is a precautionary safety measure. No one will be allowed in the building until the police are able to complete their investigation. We will provide updated communication with more information as it becomes available.

An alert from Hamilton Southeastern Schools said the Fishers Police Department requested Hamilton Southeastern and Noblesville schools to be placed on perimeter lockdown because of a “non-specific social media post.”

Here’s the alert from the school district:

Dear HSE School Community,

Fishers Police Department requested that all Hamilton Southeastern and Noblesville Schools be placed on perimeter lockdown and restrict outside activities until further notice. The request came at the reporting of a non-specific social media post.

Perimeter lockdown is a part of HSE’s normal daily procedure, but all HSE campuses also are restricting outside recess and PE until further notice from Fishers Police Department. We are in contact with FPD and will update the school community as more information becomes available.

Sincerely,

Hamilton Southeastern Schools
