INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Feb. 11, 2015)– It just keeps growing! Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot is now an estimated $500 million.

The jackpot is the third largest in the history of the game. Only the $590.5 million jackpot won in May of 2013 and a $587.5 million jackpot won in November of 2012 are greater.

Saturday’s drawing did not produce a jackpot winner, but more than 50,000 winning tickets were sold, with a prize value of more than $376,000 sold in Indiana. One ticket sold in Elkhard was worth $10,000. The player matched four white ball numbers plus the red Powerball number.

The lucky jackpot winner would have the option of the $500 million prize paid over 30 years or the $337.8 million one-time payment.

Hoosier Lottery players have won more than $1 billion in Powerball prizes. Indiana also continues to lead the nation in Powerball jackpot wins, with 38 so far.

The largest prize ever won in Indiana was a $314 million Powerball jackpot won in Richmond and claimed by the Coterel and Hiles family of Riverside and Dayton, Ohio in 2007. The Hoosier state’s most recent Powerball jackpot win, $221 million in 2011, was shared by Todd Reardon and Darin Fox of Clarksville, one of the cities in Wednesday’s free ticket giveaways!

Powerball tickets are $2 per wager and Power Play is $1 per wager. Tickets are available at over 4,000 Hoosier Lottery retailers throughout Indiana. The deadline to purchase tickets is 9:58 p.m. Wednesday.

FOX59 is Indy’s exclusive home for televised Lottery drawings, including Powerball and Mega Millions. Wednesday’s Powerball drawing airs immediately following FOX59 News at 10, followed by your live Hoosier Lottery Daily 3 and Daily 4 drawing.
