Driver of bullet-riddled truck arrested after woman found shot near City-County Building

INDIANAPOLIS (Feb. 12, 2015) – Indianapolis Metropolitan police detectives are still investigating a Wednesday afternoon incident in which a woman was found shot inside a truck near the City-County Building.

Investigators said they’re following up on leads and trying to determine where exactly the shooting took place. They believe it originally happened outside of the downtown area.

IMPD said the shooting victim remains on life support at Eskenazi Hospital. Investigators aren’t releasing her name. The truck was found with a number of bullet holes in the windshield and side windows.

The driver of the truck has been identified as William Smith, who was arrested on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. His involvement in the incident remains under investigation, and police were looking for connections between Smith and the shooting victim.
