Car hit by train north east of downtown

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (February 15, 2015) — Indianapolis Metro Police confirm a car was struck by a train near Massachusetts Avenue and Commerce Avenue Sunday evening.

Police say the driver of the car was taken to Eskenazi with serious injuries.

The intersection, which is north-east of downtown has been blocked off to traffic.

CSX police will be investigating the crash.

Investigators say the signal arms were down and the lights were flashing at the railroad crossing at the time of the crash.

The driver was the only person in the vehicle at the time and no one on the train was injured.
