Columbus man sentenced to 5 years for rape, aggravated battery

UPDATE (Nov. 12, 2015)– Gregory Taskey was sentenced Thursday to 5 years after pleading guilty in October.

COLUMBUS, Ind. (Feb. 16, 2015)– A Columbus man was arrested Sunday and preliminarily charged with rape and aggravated battery.

Officers were dispatched to the 2100 block of Home Avenue after a caller said he saw a woman outside his home who was bleeding.

When officers arrived on the scene, the woman said that Gregory Taskey, 31, assaulted her in his residence and punched her several times in the face. Taskey was arrested just before 6 a.m.

The woman was initially transported to Columbus Regional Hospital. She was then transferred to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
