Police find 2-year-old girl who was abducted by non-custodial father

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Feb. 19, 2015) – IMPD found a 2-year-old girl who was abducted by her non-custodial father. Sylvia Hess-McWilliams was taken by Jacob McWilliams, 27, Wednesday evening around 5:30 p.m.

Plainfield police said in a release that McWilliams drives a blue 2004 Ford minivan, and believed Sylvia could be in danger.

At about 12:40 a.m. IMPD located a blue minivan matching the description in the 1500 block of Manhattan Ave on Indy’s west side.

Police knocked on the door where the minivan was parked and McWilliams answered it.

McWilliams surrendered peacefully, and police recovered 2-year-old Sylvia from the back of the house. She is in good condition.

IMPD kept McWilliams in custody until Plainfield police arrived. Plainfield officers took over custody of McWilliams and they are taking Sylvia home.
