DELAWARE COUNTY (Feb. 23, 2015) – The Delaware County treasurer is out of a job as part of a deal to resolve a criminal and civil case filed against him.

John Dorer, 51, was accused of mishandling funds and faced 47 charges including official misconduct, theft and failure to properly deposit public funds. On Monday, Dorer agreed to plead guilty to one count of failure to properly deposit public funds. The other charges against him were dropped.

In addition, Dorer was removed as treasurer and agreed never to “seek and/or hold public office that is subject to audit by the Indiana State Boards of Accounts.”

Dorer was sentenced to jail but given credit for time served after his arrest in April. Dorer admitted to the allegations against him.

He was elected treasurer in 2008 and won re-election in 2012.
