SATELLITE BEACH, FL (February 24, 2015) – Sea World and Florida Fish and Wildlife teams rescued 19 manatees that were trapped in a drainage pipe Monday evening.

Teams used earth-moving equipment to lift manatees out one-by-one.

According to Bay News 9, the manatees have been congregating in canals lately because of the cold weather.

Capt. Jay Dragon of the Satellite Beach Fire Department said early Tuesday that the 19 manatees were all alive and were returned to the Indian River Lagoon System.
