INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 18, 2015) – After 21 years, are the Rolling Stones going to play another show in Indianapolis?
The rumors intensified when messages were posted on billboards in the Circle City displaying different lyrics and the word “Thursday.” It is believed there may be a major announcement tomorrow about this.
The Rolling Stones have not played in Indianapolis since Aug. 10, 1994, when they performed at the RCA Dome. The concert didn't sell out, fueling speculation that the band would never return to Indianapolis because of the tepid response.
“I hope they do come back, you know. There’s no reason to be mad at the city,” said Marc Allan, pop music critic for the the Indianapolis Star from 1990 to 1998.
Allan, currently the news manager at Butler University, remembered the review he wrote about the 1994 concert. He said the tickets were $25-$50. He hopes the rumors of the band's return are true.
“People will want to go just to be there. It’ll just be a party and the Rolling Stones will be the jukebox,” Allan said.
It is speculated the Rolling Stones will play at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 4. IMS has not confirmed that report.
