INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 25, 2015) - The April 15 tax deadline is almost here.

One local group, Indy Free Tax Prep, is offering to prepare taxes for free.

There are a few requirements to take part:

-Each return must be for $60,000 or less.
-Taxes cannot be completed for anyone who’s self-employed and has losses for the year.
-Taxes cannot be prepared for anyone who owns rental property.

Organizers say about 7,000 people will use the service at 20 locations across Central Indiana.

“Free tax preparation is great in and of itself, but the ultimate goal is to connect people to resources,” said Carla James Indy Free Tax Prep’s John H. Boner Community Center location. “When people come to any of the tax sites, they’ll have access to financial education, health care navigators, they’ll also have access, they can pull their credit reports and get assistance with that, get connected to energy assistance.”
