FISHERS, Ind. (March 30, 2015) - A luxury apartment complex that was destroyed in a January fire starts the renovation process on Monday.

This is the Flats at Fishers Marketplace apartments at 131st Street and Cumberland Road in Fishers.

The complex was still under construction when the fire tore through the $35 million complex, destroying one of its three buildings completely.

Its 78 units were originally scheduled to open in April.

Monday morning, crews will begin to move the old material out of the location.

“Get some of the heavier debris such as brick and some of the beams down,” said Rick Holtgrave with 360 Restoration. “Then we can get inside to the building, start bringing out walls, windows, sliding patio doors.”

After the fire, FOX59 investigated and found that this type of construction with lighter weight material often burns faster.

Now, people who live and work in this area will notice about a six week project to clean up the mess.

“They should expect to see lots of action, lots of machinery,” Holtgrave said. “There’s going to be walls coming down and windows being knocked out.”

After this, the rebuilding begins. Holtgrave said that will likely take up to eight months.
