Indiana State Police investigating fatal crash on I-465

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – {April 17, 2015}     Friday evening about 8:30pm,  Indiana State troopers were dispatched to the I-465 south bound ramp to east bound I-70 to investigate a two vehicle personal injury crash.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a male subject had gotten out of his  Chevrolet SUV to check on the trailer that was hauling a race car . He was on the right side of the car trailer when the trailer was struck by a 1992 Chevrolet van driven by Steve Hornaday, 51, of Greenwood, IN.

The crash pinned the driver against the median wall causing his death as determined by the  Marion County Coroner’s Office. Hornady was transported to Methodist Hospital in critical condition.

The ramps from I-465 SB to east and west bound I-70 are currently closed due to the crash investigation and wreckage removal.
