West side SWAT situation ends in suspect’s arrest after 8-hour standoff

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 16, 2015)– Police and SWAT were called to a home on the west side of Indianapolis Friday around 3:30 p.m.

Police say the suspect, 49, was allegedly riding around on a lawnmower, waving a rifle and pointing it at people. The suspect also pointed the rifle at officers.

The suspect barricaded himself inside a home in the 6400 block of West Morris Street and refused to come out, despite orders from police to surrender himself.

Around 11 p.m., officers were able to bring the standoff to an end peacefully. The suspect was arrested and no injuries were reported.
