HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. (April 27, 2015) - Construction season is well underway and crews are working hard to complete projects that are scheduled to be done by the end of this year.

Recent mild temperatures means crews have extra time to get the work done.

"We have a limited window during the summer months to make improvements to the highways, so as the weather improves, we have to get out there and get our contractors out there," said INDOT Spokesperson Nathan Riggs.

Projects like US-31 in Carmel through Westfield are set to be complete by the end of the year.

"Some construction will go into 2016, but most of it should be minor, off road work. Things like signs and  lighting," Riggs said.

As this project nears completion, INDOT is gearing up for another project. This one is downtown and may impact your Memorial Day weekend commute. The week after memorial day, INDOT will close the I-65 NB ramp to I-70 WB at the South split. It's part of a bridge refurbishing project that will bring the bridges up to code. This project will last about two weeks.
