Student brings gun to Ben Davis High School

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 1, 2015)– Police arrested a Ben Davis High School student Friday for having a loaded handgun on school grounds.

A student at the school brought the situation to the attention of administrators, who then informed the school’s resource officer. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) was called and the student was taken into custody.

The gun was not discharged and was recovered without incident.

“We are grateful to the students who made our administrators aware of this situation,” said MSD Wayne Superintendent Jeff Butts. “We work hard to develop relationships of trust with our students so that they feel comfortable coming to teachers and administrators with information that will keep us all safe.”

Parents of Ben Davis High School students were notified of the incident with a telephone message to their homes.
