It’s already been an interesting year in Indiana politics, and now FOX59 is digging deeper into the issues that matter most, as part of a new weekly program called IN Focus, hosted by FOX59 anchor Dan Spehler.

Airing on FOX59 every Sunday morning at 9:30, IN Focus will tackle a wide variety of issues, with lively political debates and news from around the state, while also featuring insight and perspective from our newsgathering partners at the IndyStar, and other newsmakers from across the political spectrum.

In this week’s preview, Spehler talks with IndyStar columnists Matthew Tully and Tim Swarens, and IndyStar political analyst Tom LoBianco about the end of this year’s controversial legislative session and the race for Governor in 2016, with John Gregg's announcement that he will run again for the office next year.

"I’m running for Governor because Indiana needs a new direction, a fresh start and a leader that focuses on the things that improve all our lives, not an out-of-touch political agenda," said Gregg.

Superintendent Glenda Ritz, a Democrat, said Thursday that she wouldn’t rule out a run for governor. Angie’s List CEO Bill Oesterle has been rumored as a potential challenger for Pence, although no formal announcement has been made. Oesterle, a Republican and vocal critic of RFRA, announced his plans to step down from the company in order to become more civically involved in the state of Indiana. He ran former Gov. Mitch Daniels’ campaign in 2004.

Then starting next week, watch every Sunday at 9:30 for a closer look at the issues that matter most to you. An interactive program, IN Focus will also feature many of your comments and opinions on the state's top stories.
