(May 4, 2015) – A Jamaican man who’d flown to New York ended up getting stopped for “carrying on” an extra item—more than $19,000 in cocaine officials said he stuffed in his underwear.

Romario Lewis showed “numerous signs of nervousness” while trying to get past security at New York’s JFK International Airport on April 16, investigators said. Customs and Border Protection officers searched Lewis, uncovering two packages of white powder stored in his “groin area.”

The packages tested positive for cocaine with a street value of more than $19,000, according to statistics from the Drug Enforcement Administration. Lewis was arrested and turned over to Homeland Security Investigations. He faces federal narcotics smuggling charges.
