INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 4th, 2015) — Volunteers are making sure Indy shines by spring cleaning downtown on Monday.

More than  200 people helped by sweeping, picking-up litter and removing graffiti during the 8th annual “Wholesale District Beautification Day.” The organization Downtown Indy partners with 15 local restaurants and hotels for the event. Volunteers say the month of May is a good time to clean-up and welcome guests with all the events leading-up to the Indianapolis 500.

“When things are clean and pretty you feel safer and people want to hang around longer and it’s very important that the downtown is clean and safe,” said Anne Maschmeyer, Downtown Indy Beautification Director

Volunteers worked from 9 to noon on Monday.
