INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May10th, 2015) -- The Indianapolis Zoo is celebrating moms of all kinds today. Moms can grab a free dessert and the whole family can take part in a zoo-wide scavenger hunt, including fun facts about all the mama animals!

Here's a fun fact: Did you know elephant moms carry their calf for 22 months?

"It's really fun to watch zoo babies grow up here and see their moms and care for them just like humans do, it’s wonderful to see," said Melanie Laurendine, Conservation PR Specialist.

New moms can also check out the Nursing Mom’s Nest throughout the summer. The Mother's Day event at the zoo runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
