Josef Newgarden’s car flips during practice Thursday at IMS

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (May 14, 2015)– The first crash of the day Wednesday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway happened just before 5:30 p.m.

Josef Newgarden flipped his car after hitting the wall in turn one during a practice run.

Newgarden was able to exit the vehicle. He was checked out and cleared to drive shortly after.

The 24-year-old driver earned his first career victory last month at the Alabama Grand Prix.

Helio Castroneves was involved in a crash that flipped his car Wednesday. He also walked away on his own and was back on the oval just hours later.
