Mom accused of selling heroin while children played nearby

MUNCIE, Ind. (May 19, 2015) - A Muncie mom admitted to selling heroin and confessed to deputies that she was peddling drugs to pay her bills. Court documents show the woman is accused of selling drugs while her children were playing nearby.

Deputies arrested Sherene Adams, 36, on preliminary charges of dealing narcotics and possession of a narcotic.

An agent with the Delaware County Drug Task Force conducted two undercover buys at the woman's house. Authorities said the her twin three-year-old kids were playing while the first buy took place. She also has two other children who were not home at the time.

Court documents state Adams gave a full confession to investigators and admitted to selling drugs. She told law enforcement she started selling heroin about three weeks ago, around the same time her electricity was cut off.

Adams also told investigators she received government assistance for her housing.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Adams remained in the Delaware County jail on a $15,000 bond.
