Columbus police arrest man seen riding in car trunk on drug charges

COLUMBUS, Ind. (May 20, 2015) – Police arrested a man they saw riding in the trunk of a car on felony drug charges.

Police were called Tuesday around 8:30 a.m. to a welfare check near US 31 and Lowell Road after a motorist observed the trunk of a 2011 Hyundai open and a person inside the trunk reach up and closed the trunk lid.

Officers located the Hyundai nearby in the 4000 block of County Road 150 West, and they contacted the owner.

When the owner opened the trunk for police, they found William Luke Holman, 22, from North Vernon, lying inside the trunk.

The vehicle owner told officers that Holman was inside the trunk to avoid being around other family members.

Officers observed narcotics and drug paraphernalia next to Holman inside the trunk and he was taken into custody without incident.

He was later transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on three charges including Possession of Heroin, Possession of a Legend Drug Injection Device, and Jennings County Arrest Warrant.
