DANVILLE, Ind. (May 20, 2015) -- Danville police say a man caught on surveillance video stealing expensive golf clubs from a golf pro shop back in April is finally off the streets. Police arrested the suspect on Wednesday. He was picked up on a theft warrant out of Marion County, which is unrelated to what is being investigated in Danville.

Police say David Stephanoff, 38, stole high-end golf clubs, bags and equipment from the Twin Bridges Golf Club pro shop. Some weeks later, police say he went back and stole Scott Garrard's bag and a $1,000 set of clubs.

"He had to have been sitting there waiting for me, somebody, to drop off a nice bag of clubs and just grab them and go," Garrard said.

Following Stephanoff's arrest, some of the stolen items were recovered including Garrard's bag and two of his clubs. Police say Stephanoff was stealing the items as fast as he was selling them.

"He was moving them pretty quick," said Danville Police Chief William Wright.

Police say Stephanoff is wanted for the Hendricks County crimes, but may also be connected to a golf course theft in Boone County and home burglaries in Marion County. Police are just glad Stephanoff's crime spree is over.

"He just wasn't going to stop, he just had no intention of stopping," Wright added.

Police are trying to figure out if Stephanoff committed any other burglaries and thefts. If you've had golf clubs stolen, give the Danville Police Department a call at (317) 745-2486.
