Donations pour in for Arizona dog found hanging from tree

TUCSON, Ariz. (May 23, 2015) — An Arizona dog that was found hanging from a tree is now recovering and with a foster family.

The case of Sunny the dog attracted attention from all over the country. Donations began pouring in for Sunny, and now the Pima Animal Care Center in Tucson has received $20,000 to help care for her.

Sunny was found hanging from a tree with a rope around her mouth on May 12.

José Ocaño, director of shelter operations for the Pima Animal Care Center, said her medical bills cost about $2,500. The rest of the donations for Sunny’s care will help other pets at the county shelter.

Sunny is a mixed shepherd and is about 2 years old.
