Indiana University football player Isaac Griffith arrested for OWI

(May 23, 2015) –  Indiana University football player Isaac Griffith was arrested by IU police Saturday morning at 5 a.m. for OWI.

According to the Monroe County Jail, Griffith was booked on charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, endangerment and illegal consumption. Griffith bonded out at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Griffith will likely have his initial appearance Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.

Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations Jeff Keag released this statement regarding Griffith: “We are aware of the situation and currently gathering more facts.”

Griffith is a sophomore at IU and is 20-years-old. He is a wide receiver for the football team.

In March 2014, Griffith nearly drowned after a swimming accident on spring break in Florida. Doctors kept him in a medically induced coma for two days at Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
