INDIANAPOLIS (May 28, 2015) – A brief SWAT standoff ended Thursday morning on the near north side.

A SWAT unit was called to the near north side home in the 2200 block of Capitol Avenue. Police said a suspect assaulted his girlfriend and barricaded himself inside. He also has an outstanding warrant unrelated to the case.

The situation started around 8:40 a.m., bringing a large police presence to the area. Traffic was also being diverted because streets were blocked during the police response.

Police took Michael Tunstall into custody, ending the standoff. Traffic in the area has now cleared, dispatchers said. Two other men also came out of the home.
