(June 5, 2015) – A woman in California is an inspiration to many people and a reminder that it’s never too late to get your college degree.

Doreetha Daniels is 99-years-old. And as of today, she is a college graduate.

Daniels walked across the stage Friday to receive her diploma from College of the Canyons.

According to KTLA, she was the school’s oldest graduate ever. She lived through the Great Depression, World War II, and the Civil Rights Movement. She is also a mother and grandmother.

The grandchildren inspired me because they were all adults working and working on their masters so I said I am not doing anything and I am tired of my hobbies so I am going to go to school,” Daniels told KTLA.

Her son said despite his mom having a minor stroke, she persevered till the end. It was Daniels’ goal to earn her degree before she turned 100.
