Sarah Palin blasts media for coverage on Duggar family, calls actress Lena Dunham a ‘pedophile’
(June 5, 2015)—Sarah Palin is lashing out against ‘radical liberals in media’ and their portrayal of the family behind the popular TV show “19 Kids in Counting,” after reports of sexual misconduct surfaced.
Palin criticized the media and their coverage on the family compared to the coverage on “Girls” actress Lena Dunham, who wrote in her book “Not That Kind of Girl” that, as a 7-year-old child, she bribed her 1-year-old sister using ‘anything a sexual predator might do’ in exchange for kisses and a look at her vagina.
The former Alaska governor began her Facebook post in all caps, writing “HEY LENA, WHY NOT LAUGH OFF EVERYONE’S SEXUAL “EXPERIMENTS” AS YOU HAUGHTILY ENJOY REWARDS FOR YOUR OWN PERVERSION? YOU PEDOPHILE, YOU.”
Palin called the difference in media attention a “double standard,” expressing outlets crucified Josh Duggar, while giving Dunham a “free pass.”
I’m not defending the Duggar boy’s obvious wrongdoing over a decade ago. The main victim in any story like this isn’t the perpetrator, it’s the innocent ones so harmfully affected. I’m not an apologist for any sexual predator, but I’m sickened that the media gives their chosen ones a pass for any behavior as long as they share their leftwing politics. Case in point, they suggest Lena Dunham’s sexual assault on her sibling is cute, and she’s rewarded for it with fame and fortune. Meanwhile, they crucify another, along with an entire family.
Josh Duggar’s family appeared this week on Fox News to comment publically for the first time. The Duggar parents confirmed Josh had “improperly touched” some of his sisters when he was a teenager.
Palin argues the attention should not be focused on Josh’s actions as a teen, but rather on how the information of what occurred got out and how the story is being represented.
