INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (June 14, 2015) – A man found shot multiple times Sunday morning on the west side of Indianapolis has died.

Family has identified him as Gerald Walter Darden, 49, of Indianapolis.

Police responded to a shots fired call in the 1300 block of West 27th Street around 6:05 a.m.

Authorities say Darden was shot twice in the back and twice in the arm.

He was transported to Eskenazi Hospital where he later died.

“I’m not mad cuz I’m not God, but my higher power that I believe in is going to bring you down whether you come to justice or not. My all mighty God is going to see you suffer for gunning my son down like he was an animal,” said Regina McElwain, Darden’s mother.

Homicide detectives are interviewing witnesses. No suspects have been identified and detectives do not have a motive.

Police say they do not believe the incident was a random act.
