UPDATE: Man killed, another transported to hospital after shootings on near east side

UPDATE June 20, 12:20PM: Police have identified the man who was shot in the face as 20-year-old Eron Bonner, and the man deceased as 47-year-old Hanson Smith. Detectives do believe that the shootings are connected and are not a random act of violence.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (June 19, 2015)– Authorities are investigating two shootings on the near east side of Indianapolis Friday.

Officers first responded to the 2000 block of Huston Street in reference to a person shot around 6 p.m. after receiving a 911 call. When they arrived to the scene, they found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. He was transported to Eskenazi Hospital in serious condition.

Moments later, officers located a second victim inside a vehicle in the 1900 block of Olney Street. He was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Detectives believe it’s possible the shootings are related. Detectives urge anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-8477.
