CONSTABLE, New York (June 28, 2015)–The second man who broke out of a New York prison three weeks ago has been captured.

David Sweat was shot by police and is in custody at a hospital.

The manhunt for the escaped prison inmate ended Sunday afternoon in upstate New York,  just two miles from the Canadian border.

Sweat who was wearing camouflage clothing was shot twice by a New York State Trooper.

The trooper spotted a suspicious man walking down a road and followed him.

When he realized it was Sweat, he ordered him to stop.

When Sweat started to run, the sergeant, a firearms instructor, opened fire.

His prison break partner Richard Matt, also a convicted murderer, was shot dead Friday, one day after his 49th birthday. He was armed.
